It has never been easier than today to find great movies and TV series right from the sofa at home. The big streaming platforms have revolutionized this sector and today the big challenge is choosing the most suitable title to spend the evening. For this reason, we have decided to draw up a small list of ten films or television series that a motor enthusiast cannot miss.
Everyone lived through the months of pandemic restrictions in their own way. However, if there is something that undoubtedly unites everyone is the enormous consumption of TV series and films on the sofa at home, with a real explosion of multimedia platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Today it is easier and easier to watch the great cinema directly from home. At the same time, however, with the gigantic offer available every day, it is also increasingly difficult to choose the right film or television series to spend the right evening in company, or perhaps alone. It therefore happens more and more often that the time taken to choose what to watch is almost greater than the duration of the film.
For this reason, we have decided to draw up a small list of ten films or television series that a motor enthusiast cannot miss and that, in the vast majority of titles, is easily accessible on the web. Obviously, there is no claim to be exhaustive, only some titles, among the most important classics (which is always good to keep in mind) and other more sought-after and lesser-known options that will surely be very popular.

We are talking about a great classic that turned 30 in 2020. Top Gun director Tony Scott directs the sensational Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman and Robert Duvall in an action-movie that focuses on a pilot who has fallen into a coma after a serious accident on the track and doing everything to get back to racing. Days of Thunder is not just a film with a crazy plot and a stellar cast, but it has become a real cult that no motor lover can afford not to watch.
Fast and Furios is probably the best known saga on the world of motors. This year the first film, released in theaters in 2001, which literally bewitched audiences and film critics turns twenty. From then until today, no one can deny that Fast and Furios has become synonymous with any clandestine racing in all latitudes of the globe. Amazing.
A film that did not have great successes at the box office was “The 24 Hours of Le Mans” by the legendary Steve McQueen. However, not only over the years has the public “from home” totally overturned the coldness with which they were welcomed in the cinema, but what interests us above all is the great realism with which it tells the real “24 hours of 1970”. In fact, several shots of the film were recorded during the race, with a camera installed on a Porsche 908 that competed regularly. Amazing.
It is the film that Formula 1 fans cannot miss, because it tells the historical rivalry between Niki Lauda and Jeams Hunt with great narrative capacity and depth. A very exciting film for those who lived through those years, but with great educational and historical power also for those who still did not follow engines at that time, and want to get an idea of one of the most important duels in the history of engines.
Remaining on the subject of characters who have made the history of F1, there is the biography of Schumi which documents with great precision and seriousness the career of the man of records who made Italy fall in love - and not only - at the wheel of Ferrari.

Therefore, one cannot fail to mention the excellent documentary - proudly made in Italy - about the Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna. The direction of the docufilm is by Ezio Zermiani who has decided to retrace Senna's career, recounting some of the most salient moments in his life and with a great sensitivity towards the most intimate and spiritual aspects of the great champion.
Let's move on to something more technical, aimed at a more niche and "specialized" audience with the original and innovative television miniseries Grand Prix Driver, all centered on the preparation of driver Stoffel Vandoorne's first race of the season in Melbourne with McLaren this season 2018. Above all, the ability to describe the effort that requires from the whole team a complex task such as preparing and developing every single detail of the car before an F1 season is to be appreciated.
Also on this style for lovers and real maniacs of Formula 1 there is Drive To Survive, which follows the course of the whole season trying to transport the public into the deepest feelings and emotions of the protagonists of the F1 world.
Fastest Car, on the other hand, is a fun, lively and very interesting action series. The first season sheds light on the world of Sleeper cars, that is cars that are aesthetically very similar to the original models, but which are specially built by wizards of the sector, to hide important surprises from the point of view of the performance of the engines.
Another film that tells the life of an F1 great is Williams. This time, however, unlike the previous titles, at the center of the plot there is not the career of a driver, but of the great Sir Frank Williams, the legendary entrepreneur who founded the homonymous Formula 1 team and who lived an existence deeply passionate and thrilling, as the period films and interviews of this beautiful documentary authentically document.
Finally, the extravagant story told by Michael Bay in Underground. Six billionaires who choose to fake their deaths to be free to organize a vanguard of private vigilantes that will bring security and justice across the globe. The absolute protagonist of this crazy story, however, is actually the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio that whizzes among the architectural wonders of Florence.
